Vitamins and your child's health  Everyone knows that vitamins are important to maintain child’s healthy . We hear around how beneficial is an optimal intake of vitamins for growth and development of the child and how dangerous is the vitamin deficiency in the body.

Parents often choose to supplement the child’s diet with vitamins in the form of tablets or drops, the idea being that those can only be healthy. True – vitamins are essential for the health of the child; but not every child needs supplements!

What vitamins are essential for the health of your child:

– Vitamin A contributes to a good view, to a harmonious growth and development of bones and to the immune system. In general, the intake of vitamin A can be ensured through healthy eating: rich sources are carrots ( carrot juice daily would provide sufficient dose ), spinach, zucchini, dairy, liver. – Vitamin B ( a vitamins complex ) provides replication and cell growth, proper functioning of metabolism, energy status and the good mood ( vitamin combats stress ), balancing cholesterol, hormonal balance and cardiovascular and nervous health . Liver, beans, cereals, almonds, wheat, seeds, nuts, peanuts, mushrooms, green vegetables, eggs, milk, cheese, fish are all sources that gives the body vitamins B.

– Vitamin C is an antioxidant that ensures harmonious growth and development of cells and immune resistance. Nutrition is vital in ensuring the intake of vitamin C, the body not producing this organic compound. Citrus fruits, chilli, pepper and broccoli are excellent sources of vitamin C.

– Vitamin D is actually responsible for the health and bone strength. This vitamin is produced naturally by the body once with sun exposure, diet having a less significant role than natural light. Therefore, in the winter, many children may have deficiencies of vitamin D. However, milk and cereals fortified with vitamin D can provide the necessary input to a child, same as certain types of fish such as tuna.

– Vitamin E is an antioxidant, ensuring the health of the entire body and the circulatory system health. The richest sources of vitamin E are sunflower oil, sunflower seeds, walnuts, almonds, wheat, fruits and vegetables.

– Vitamin K is important for blood circulation and blood clotting contributing to bone health too. Eating that ensures intake of vitamin K should include vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, cabbage and cereals, dairy and eggs.

Vitamins contribute fundamentally to child’s growth and maintain general health. A healthy child with a balanced diet but not usually need supplements! There are many products on the market that promise good health, energy and vitality, suitable for children, even with shapes, colors and taste appealing to children.

Every parent should however retain that vitamin supplementation is recommended only following doctor’s advice! Even vitamins, health sources can damage if they are not managed correctly. Each child has different needs and only a specialist is able to decide what supplements in combinations and doses are really healthy for the child.
